See The Rhythm

See The Rhythm Synaesthetic concepts in contemporary Austrian video

8 September – 23 October  2004

From a musical and visual style point of view, this program has very little to do with traditional music videos. We are dealing with radical works of avant-garde style that emerge in a logical way from contemporary electronic music and from the cooperation of visual artists and electronic musicians.

The selection presented here reveals, in all its diversity, actuality and, of course, in the quality of the works, that Austria (or, rather, Vienna) is a fertile ground for innovation in the visual field. Most of the films are geometric and abstract, and are made up of completely digital images (and sounds), but some also incorporate realistic images. These images never merely illustrate the music, nor vice versa: what is exciting about these works is that the image and sound drink from the same source. The sensual synaesthetic experience comes to the forefront.
